Spectrum 7 - Debut Single ‘Blue Wray’ Out Today!

"...a remarkably assured meld of razor riffing, blast beats and ambient soundscapes." - Kerrang! KKKK

Following on from the release of the band’s debut EP ‘Fade To Black And Back Again’, Spectrum 7 can now reveal that their debut single ‘Blue Wray’ will be released digitally on iTunes and other major DSPs through Xtra Mile Recordings on 27th July. ‘Blue Wray’s taken from the band’s forthcoming debut mini album ‘So Silent the Night’ produced by Lester Woodward and Patrick Jonsson (Flood of Red, Furthest Drive Home, Skirtbox) that will be released later this year.

05/04/2009 Spectrum 7 by Dan Griffiths - http://www.dangriffiths.com

Sean Shreeve (Bass) and Jon Hardless (Guitar) began their early careers like most musicians; crafting songs in their bedrooms. Soon the ideals and conventions of the traditional rock band set-up were wearing thin with the duo and they began to look for new and innovative ways to bring their vision of the way bands should sound to a future generation of listeners.

Spectrum 7 - Blue Wray

Shreeve and Hardless immediately got to work writing unconventional musical structures and electronic beats on their Playstation while layering lyrics, guitar and bass riffs over the top. Although the band was still in a very premature form the duo managed to convince vocalist Jason Mirchandani and drummer Graeme Healy to come onboard and after scrapping their Playstation in favor of professionally crafted electronic beats the group began honing their unique sound and Spectrum 7 was born!

The band are playing the following shows:
5 Aug 229 Club, London
18 Sep MeshFest, London
30 Sep Borderline, London w/ PEOPLE IN PLANES **MAIN SUPPORT**

Frank Turner - New Single, New Album & Tours Galore!

“Heavy-clever wit and wry, do-or-die romantic solidarity of socially superconscious singer-songwriter Billy Bragg by way of Joe Strummer” (Austin Chronicle)

Continuing his meteoric rise to superstardom, Frank Turner will be releasing his brand new download-only single ‘The Road’ on 31st August through Xtra Mile Recordings/Epitaph Records. It’s an immediately catchy slice of sing-a-long folk/punk taken from the stunning forthcoming album ‘Poetry Of The Deed’.

SENDFrankcat

‘Poetry…’ – Frank’s third studio album – is released a week later on 7th September on Xtra Mile Recordings/Epitaph for UK and Ireland and through Epitaph/Xtra Mile Recordings for the rest of the world. Recruiting his outstanding live band for the recording process Frank, along with Grammy nominated producer Alex Newport (Death Cab For Cutie, At The Drive-In, Two Gallants) has captured the essence of his live show onto the record as performing live has always been at the very heart of the Frank Turner experience. The results are a big, lush album that showcases Frank’s growing maturity in song-writing and style perfectly.

‘The Road’ is accompanied by a video of Frank’s quite honestly mental attempt to play 24 shows in 24 hours. This involved posting a request on his blog for a load of London-based places where he could come and play a few songs. Tiny frontrooms and kitchens, roof terraces and warehouses, music magazine offices and a record store were all donated and Frank played them all, culminating at a crowded and raucous finale at North London’s Flowerpot venue.

Frank Turner - The Road

The album release in the USA coincides nicely with a support tour with old friends The Gaslight Anthem in September and in the UK with his largest headline tour to date taking in London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire, for the last night. Dartz Call It A Day!

We are very sad to announce that Xtra Mile signings Dartz have decided to call it a day. Here is what Henry from the band has said about the split:

"When we started the band, Will was only 16, Phil was only 17, I was only a bit older... in the four and a half years that have passed, we've achieved more than we ever expected and most of what we've done I doubt will ever sink in. However, these days we're spread out across the country in Oxford, Sheffield, Lonon and there's only me left back up in Middlesbrough so it's been becoming increasingly difficult to function as a band. I guess we've just realised that Dartz has run its course."

DARTZ! - Press shoot

The Teesside trio release two amazing album both on Xtra Mile. To mark the split of the band we are offering both of the band’s albums for the very special price of only £5 for a limited period only. You can order them by clicking here.

We wish our brothers in Dartz the best of luck in whatever they do in the future.
